Work-integrated learning (WIL) is an experiential learning opportunity for students to utilize the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom and apply it to the workplace. WIL opportunities are available for more than 80 programs across various industry sectors.
• Hands-on experience in your field of study• Network with industry partners• Most positions are paid• Enhance your interview skills and develop effective job search strategies• Minimum of four months in length (one semester) typically with full-time hours
A co-op term is usually a full-time paid position that is completed between two academic semesters. A work term usually involves full-time hours and can either be between two academic semesters or at the end of a program. Depending on the program you choose, Seneca offers either a co-op or a work term, which can be mandatory or optional. For more information on the different types of WIL experiences available, please visit our Co-op & Work Experience page.
In order to qualify for WIL, you'll need to satisfy the eligibility requirements for your program. Visit our Work-Integrated Learning - Eligibility page for a complete list of eligibility requirements for optional WIL programs. All Seneca degree programs include a mandatory WIL experience.
Students in WIL are enrolled in a work term prep course (WTP100 or WTP200) designed to prepare them for their WIL experience. Seneca Works encourages students to start preparing for their job search before their WTP course. Seneca Works helps students in planning their careers and preparing for work. This includes support in career exploration, developing a career action plan, preparing job search documents, connecting with potential employers, preparing for interviews and looking for jobs.
There is a $495 non-refundable fee for domestic and international students to participate in WIL.
