Looking for something outside of the course work, yet allows you to network with industry leaders, solve real-world issues with your friends, and provides you with the opportunity of investors funding ideas you have? Then check out Seneca's Annual Hackathons!
A Hackathon is a problem-solving competition in which a diverse group of people form a team and decide to collaborate intensively to develop solutions to given problems or “challenge sets”. A cause Hackathon, such as this year's (2022) Sustainability Hackathon, is an event focused on increasing awareness of global causes and providing avenues for participation to become engaged and involved in making the world a better place.
Seneca has had the fortunate opportunity to run these competitions for the past 3 years, with an overall participate turnout of 600 participants for this year's competition that took place during the reading week of the Winter semester from February 28th to March 4th.
Teams are a maximum of 5 students and there is no required skill level for the competitions.
The competitions provide opportunities for students to advance their skills, develop new networking opportunities, have the possibility of investors commercializing their ideas, receiving a micro-credential to place on their resume, amongst much more!
For further information regarding the competition and other details, feel free to visit the competition homepage.
So why not try something new that will also allow you to develop your skills and build your network?
