AIG program for Summer 2024 | School of Software Design & Data Science | Seneca Students

The AIG certificate is tailored for Computer Science, Computer Programming, and Software Development graduates. It will equip students with the hands-on skills and theoretical knowledge needed to transform data into strategic, evidence-based business decisions for companies.

In this program, students explore critical concepts and skills like machine learning algorithms, cloud technology, data visualization, and advanced AI, including generative AI and prompt engineering. Students also have the opportunity to gain industry exposure through an optional, work-integrated learning experience.

Seneca Polytechnic proudly congratulates Ranya Rhazi for achieving her spot in Seneca's AI graduate certificate program. She is enthusiastic about sharing her experiences in both the Artificial Intelligence and Entrepreneurship Work Integrated Learning program and we are delighted to share her experience with all of our students through a short discussion with her.

1. Please tell us about yourself.

I am a Moroccan international student who came to Canada in January 2024. I chose Canada and Seneca because they are known to provide good education and a diverse environment. I earned my bachelor's in Computer Science from Al Akhawayn University in Morocco. I was an exchange student for a year in South Korea at Seoul National University, where I also enjoyed an excellent education and learned consistent work ethics, all while discovering Korean culture.

    2. How you started and feel about the AIG certificate program

I learned a lot from the AIG program, which started by collecting data, cleaning it, and making it ready for a model, conducting an exploratory data analysis, creating a model from scratch, including planning its architecture, training, testing, and evaluating the model, deploying the model, and using cloud computing resources. 

   3. What did you learn from this program and your experiences?

I have always wanted to be a problem-solver, and I love doing that creatively. That is why my future goal is not only to enter the professional world and contribute to the AI field, but I also want to see my AI-Skincare project come to life and be something I can be proud of. I plan to help people who do not have the funds or ability to get their skin checked by providing them with an at-home solution that they can use on their phones. I would love to gather an extensive data set with a varied set of skin issues so that my model can detect them to the best accuracy and provide the best recommendations.

   4. Please share your future goals and plans.

I started the Artificial Intelligence program because I had just graduated with a bachelor's in computer science, which I thoroughly enjoyed but was also very broad. Since I was interested in AI and wanted to do something more specialized, I decided to enroll in Seneca's AI graduate certificate program. I feel pleased about joining the program because I learned many exciting theoretical and practical skills. I like that the program touches on multiple aspects of AI, including robotics, cloud, deep learning, etc. I appreciate that the courses were straight to the point, and any additional details were encouraged to be individually researched through projects and assignments. I learned about the WIL program during the second semester, which was very useful and taught me a lot about professionalism and how to enter the corporate world. From there, I was able to transition to the EWIL program, which tickled my already existing interest in entrepreneurship.
