Students in the CLP and CHY completed Faculty-led Program Abroad in Denmark.
Students in the Chemical Engineering Technology (CHY) program and Chemical Laboratory Technology – Pharmaceutical (CLP) program in the School of Biological Sciences & Applied Chemistry traveled to Aarhus, Denmark — originally a fortified Viking settlement — for two weeks to participate in a faculty-led program abroad (FLPA).
In collaboration with the Business Academy Aarhus, students completed a research-based project focused on the chemical engineering, chemical and microbiological testing, and sensory analysis of the beer-brewing process. As part of this project, students brewed their own beer using the school’s pilot-scale brewery and utilize a variety of chemical and microbial characterization techniques to gain insight into the process of brewing beer.
