  • What is the Institution Special Bursary Program?

  • Answered

The Institution Special Bursary Program (ISBP) provides financial aid to help eligible students cover their educational costs.

The amount granted will depend on eligible educational costs, such as tuition, books, travel costs and childcare costs. The maximum bursary amount eligible students can receive is $2,500 per academic year.

You can apply for ISBP only once per term, and your eligibility for future ISBP funding will depend on the successful completion of both past and currently funded ISBP courses.

You cannot receive funding through the ISBP during the same study period in which you receive funds through:

    • OSAP
    • CSLP
    • Second Career,
    • Financial Aid from the College
    • or student financial assistance from another province, territory or country.

If you have extra education‐related expenses for services and equipment resulting from a disability, you may be eligible for an Ontario Bursary for Students with Disabilities (BSWD). For more information, email BSWD.info@senecacollege.ca.

If you leave school or drop a course, you may be required to repay a portion of the bursary you received through ISBP back to Seneca. You may not be entitled to the full amount of the Institution Special Bursary Program (ISBP) if you do not finish the course(s) as planned.

Funding received through the ISBP is taxable. If you receive a bursary, your institution will issue you a T4A in February for the total amount of the bursary received. You will need to submit your Social Insurance Number on Student Home before an award is disbursed.
