Dave B. | Tourism | Seneca Students

I’m Dave Burns, and I teach several courses in the School of Hospitality and Tourism within Seneca Business.  Subjects I have facilitated include business administration, law and risk management, service strategy and management, human resources, marketing, tourism research and development, supervision and leadership, and career strategies.

I have an Honours Business Administration degree, a Masters in Business Administration, am a Certified Travel Counsellor, a Certified Travel Manager, and have thoroughly enjoyed teaching and my 6 years with students and faculty at Seneca.

Before I joined Seneca, I worked in industries including travel, airline, marketing services, financial services, automotive, and telecommunications.   I have held executive leadership roles in service, operations, sales, human resources, finance, and legal.  My personal mission is to “Help others learn so they can achieve goals even beyond their dreams” … and this is what drives me when I’m developing content for class, preparing for class, and when I’m with students.

When I’m not teaching, my other passions include travel, tennis, technology, music, golf, and volunteering in our community.  I’ve included here a few of the pictures I’ve taken during my travels since joining Seneca.  Though I’ve travelled from one end of the earth to the other, every place I’ve been has provided special memories … and there’s so much more to see!

I look forward to working with you in class … virtually for now … and ultimately in person on campus.
