“Making sure every student voice is heard.”
Hi Seneca! My name is Sahil Patel, a student in the Computer Programming & Analysis program. Like many of you, I understand the challenge of balancing classes, assignments, career preparation and campus life while making the most of everything Seneca offers.
At Seneca, I’ve focused on supporting and connecting with students so we can succeed together. As a Peer Mentor, I help first-year students navigate academic challenges and adjust to postsecondary life. I also serve as Vice President of the Disruptive Technologies Club, helping lead a community of 150+ students and organizing tech events and hackathons that increased engagement by 30%, creating opportunities for students to collaborate and explore emerging technologies.
I’ve also had the opportunity to support the Seneca community through several roles. As an IT Systems Technologist Co-op, I supported 500+ students and faculty by helping ensure the digital systems students rely on for learning run smoothly while improving response efficiency by 25%. I also contribute as a Seneca Works Career Peer, helping students with resume reviews and career resources, and as an ITS Student Lab Monitor & HyFlex Ambassador, supporting classroom technology to ensure smooth learning experiences.
These experiences have reinforced an important belief: when students are heard and supported, our entire community grows stronger. I believe the best decisions for our polytechnic come from listening to students and understanding their experiences.
My goal is simple: to ensure every student’s voice is represented in the decisions that shape our Seneca experience.
