Seneca campuses remain open today but day and evening in-person classes will move online where possible, due to snowfall. Read more
Hi! My name is Joy Tolong, and I’m currently in the Honours Bachelor of Design in Interactive Media program at Seneca. I’m also an alumna of the Interactive Media (INM) diploma, so I’ve experienced Seneca from both the perspective of a new student and a continuing one.
I’ve been involved in the Seneca community through several roles focused on supporting students. I currently work as a Service Hub Ambassador, where I help students navigate services, answer questions and access the support they need. I’ve also worked at the FCAD desk in a campus role supporting students and faculty. Through my time as a student, I’ve learned how to advocate for myself and how to navigate campus resources in a way that makes the student experience more manageable.
In addition, I’ve been a Peer Mentor for two semesters, helping new students adjust to campus life, and I volunteered as a Wayfinder during Open House to welcome prospective students and families.
Before coming to Seneca, I studied at a Canadian university, where I helped plan student events for my program and supported opportunities for students to connect and network.
Through these experiences, I’ve seen how important it is for students to feel supported and informed. If elected, I want to focus on making information more accessible, helping students better understand the resources available to them, and supporting smoother transitions from school into their careers.
