Elections for the Student Governor are held annually and are overseen by a Returning Officer, appointed by the Corporate Secretary. Notification of an election is provided to the Seneca Polytechnic community through a variety of communications platforms. Internal candidates are elected by their constituent group after going through a rigorous nomination process. To become an internal candidate, applicants (nominees) need to complete an Intention to Stand for Election for Student Governor application and have ten peers (nominators) support them. All nominees and nominators are validated by Seneca.
Qualified candidates are required to attend an Orientation Session prior to launching their campaign.
