Field Placement - Experiential Learning FPL385

Step 1: Complete Student Information Form on Seneca Works Career Portal

You will be notified via email by the Field Placement Team to verify that you have an access to complete your Student Information Form on the Seneca Works Career Portal.

Please log in as soon as possible to fill out the required information. For the best experience, we strongly recommend accessing the portal using a laptop or desktop computer, as some features may not display properly on a mobile device.

Before starting, make sure your address is updated on Student Home. Updates sync overnight, so any changes made today will appear tomorrow. You may update your address anytime before placement matching begins in early August–September for Fall 2026 Term. If your address changes after submitting the form, please update it again on Student Home.

Step 2: Synergy Data Collection: Vulnerable Sector Check + Student Code of Conduct

Please check your inbox to see if you have received your Synergy activation link. The email could be from (helpdesk@synergygateway.com). Please do not report it as a Phishing email.

Once you receive the email, please follow the steps provided and ensure you access the link within the 72‑hour time limit, as the activation link will expire after that period.

If your link has expired, please use the “Forgot Password / Resend Password” option on the Synergy login page to receive a new activation link.

After successfully logging in, go to the Important Documents folder, download and sign the Professional Conduct Form, and upload it to Synergy. This document is required for you to receive a pass clearance.

Important notes:

There is an associated fee to submit your documents on Synergy Gateway. This fee helps ensure that your documents, especially your Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), which may contain confidential information are protected and securely stored. These sensitive details should not be accessible to Seneca faculty or staff, and Synergy provides a secure, third‑party platform for proper handling and verification. Appointments should only be booked after you have received and uploaded your Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

Booking early before you have the required documents may result in missed appointments and could cause unnecessary issues with your account.

Step 3 - No action required on this step. Field Placement team will be completing the matching process and you will be informed once this information is available

Step 4 - WSIB Coverage Student Declaration Form

All LIT students going on field placement must complete the Insurance Declaration Form once the placement host has been identified and must be submitted prior to the start of the placement. 
Once you host has been identified, please download the attachment on this site and sign the document. This document must be uploaded on this step. 

For the succeeding steps, we will provide further instructions on your Experiential Learning Record closer to the appropriate time.
