For the 13th year, Seneca Polytechnics annual Green Citizen Symposium — Collaborate for Climate Action, sponsored by TD Insurance, took place virtually from Tuesday, Nov. 7 to Thursday, Nov. 9.

More than 1,600 students, employees and community members participated in the symposium and engaged in meaningful discussions about sustainability. During the three-day event, keynotes and workshop helped attendees discuss the climate crisis, how to build equitable green spaces, climate narratives, design thinking, smart and resilient cities, insect technology and much more.

On Tuesday, Nov. 14, Seneca hosted its first-ever Sustainability Career Fair in partnership with . More than 250 students and community members discovered different sustainability opportunities across diverse sectors, including banking, landscape, community work and the energy sector.

To help prepare students and graduates for the changing landscape of work, the Office of Sustainability and   partnered with Eco Canada to prepare students for the growing sustainability workforce. The workshop, hosted on Monday, Nov. 13, gave details on key occupations and sectors where green skills are particularly in demand, a short-term hiring forecast for jobs, and discussed the importance of transferable skills for the emerging thriving economy.
