In 2022, Seneca Polytechnic launched the I-Care Project in partnership with EssilorLuxottica and the ONESIGHT EssilorLuxottica Foundation. This initiative helps educate the Seneca community on how to prevent sight loss, and protect, preserve and prioritize vision health. It also makes vision screening and full comprehensive eye exams accessible to the Seneca community.
Led by staff and faculty from the Opticianry program, the I-Care Project helps Opticianry students prepare for careers as eye care practitioners by offering valuable hands-on experiential learning opportunities. Other members of the Seneca community receive access to vision screening and a comprehensive eye exam performed by a licensed optometrist in our cutting-edge refraction lab located at the Newnham Campus.
5.5 million Canadians live with uncorrected poor vision - we want to make sure all Seneca students have access to health care so they can be successful in their studies and when they enter the world of work.
Thanks to our very generous donors, EssilorLuxottica, ONESIGHT EssilorLuxottica Foundation, McCray Optical, Mood Eyewear and the Ontario Opticians Association, the I-Care Project is barrier-free for students.
