Advocacy and Action

Advocacy and action can take place in a many ways. One way in which students can collaborate, organize and take action is through Seneca’s CYC Club.

If you are interesting in advocacy and action opportunities please contact David Connolly at david.connolly@senecacollege.ca

    Placement Panels

The CYC program continues to organize placement panels for all years. The 2nd years visited the first year CYC247 Field Placement Preparation class. The 3rd years visited the 2nd year CYC447 Field Placement Seminar classes.  Seneca CYC Alumni are also coming in to visit with the 3rd year CYC647 Field Placement Seminar classes later in March.

These panels provide our current students with the opportunity to hear and learn about the experiences of our placement students and graduates. Seneca students and alumni are doing wonderful things in the field!

Thank you to our panel members who took time out of their busy schedules to go above and beyond for our students.

Thank you Keri for organizing all these events in cooperation with our field seminar faculty!

    Meet Seneca’s OACYC Student Amplifiers

    3rd Year

    Abby Menjivar Pereyra

My name is Abby, I am currently the third-year Seneca Student representative for the OACYC Student Amplifiers. I enjoy socializing with others, reading, spending time with family and loved ones and am passionate about the arts! I’ve come to value all of the connections I’ve had the privilege to make throughout my journey to become a Child and Youth Care Practitioner, as well as the fantastic learning opportunities. My motivation remains to pursue the higher, better things in life, one day at a time, knowing that I will one day have the privilege to help different communities in a broader aspect and bring people of all kinds together.

    2nd Year

    Poornima Kalia

My name is Poornima and I am the second-year Seneca College CYC representative for the OACYC Amplifiers. I find immense joy in painting and exploring different aesthetics. What truly fuels me is the ability to connect with others and make a positive impact. I firmly believe that each child is different and should be approached with individualized care. As an aspiring Child and Youth Care Parctitioner my program, experiences and learnings have shaped me into a compassionate individual willing to explore diverse approaches. My goal is to provide a therapeutic setting for children and youth, one that fosters inclusivity and affirmation.
