Preparing to Start at Seneca 

Join this session to learn about travel requirements, arrival supports and resources available to ensure you have a fantastic journey and a successful start at Seneca. We will guide you through the necessary steps to take before leaving your country as well as, what to expect at the airport, and upon arriving in Canada.

Housing in Toronto

Looking for a comfortable accommodation is an essential part of your journey abroad, and Seneca is here to assist you in making the transition to living and studying in Canada as smooth as possible. Whether you prefer living on or off-campus, or homestay, we provide a range of housing options to choose from that will make you feel at home.

Our International Student Transition Coordinators will share valuable insights, tips, and resources to help you navigate the process of finding suitable housing options that fit your needs and budget. We will guide you through the important steps and factors you should consider when deciding where to live.

Toronto essentials for international students! This session introduces international students to the vibrant city of Toronto. The Canadian Classroom 

The Canadian classroom is a big part of your experience at Seneca—and it might be different from what you’re used to back home. You’ll spend a lot of time learning here, so knowing what to expect can make a real difference.

Our goal is to help you understand Canadian classroom culture, introduce you to what’s expected, and share tips for connecting with your professors, working with classmates, and staying on top of your assignments.

Social Insurance Clinics

To legally work in Canada, you need a nine-digit Social Insurance Number (SIN) issued by Service Canada.

At the beginning of each term, Seneca Polytechnic invites Service Canada to come to  campus to issue a SIN on the spot.

Bring original and valid documents listed below to your appointment:

• A study permit issued by IRCC or CIC which indicates the permit holder “may accept employment or “may work” in Canada.
• A passport.

Visit the Government of Canada website to view a list of acceptable documents.

To guarantee an appointment time, International Students must register for a specific time slot.

Check back for registration information once details are finalized.

Morcare Virtual Session

Join this virtual session to learn more about Morcare, your health insurance provider.  It will cover details about your benefits and coverage and explain how to submit a claim.  Learn how to access mental health support as an international student. You also have access to crisis support in the language of your choice through WeConnect.

You will also have an opportunity to get your questions answered by a Morcare representative.
