What is the difference between the Field Mentor and Field Placement Coordinator?
The Field Placement Mentor is one of the Registered Early Childhood Educators or Ontario Certified Teachers working at the student placement. School age programs can be staffed by others which includes Ontario Certified Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, or Recreational staff. Students shadow him or her in the day-to-day routines in the field placement setting and the mentor is a positive role model. The Field Mentor provides students with feedback and supports student’s learning throughout placement.
Field Placement Coordinators act as a link between Seneca students/programs and external agencies. Field Placement Coordinators support students to ensure they meet the field placement requirements of their program. The Field Placement Coordinators supports both the student and the placement.
