Ashley Simoneau’s academic path is a testament to where passion and dedication can lead. She began with a Police Foundations diploma, building a strong base in law enforcement, criminal justice, and public safety. Eager to expand her expertise, she transitioned into Seneca’s Honours Bachelor of Crime & Intelligence Analysis (CIA) degree, where she deepened her understanding of intelligence work and crime analysis.
Her time at Seneca was filled with hands-on experiences and mentorship from industry professionals. One of her most memorable opportunities was participating in the Joyi Research Study, which ultimately led her to present her findings at the International Neuroscience Conference in Washington, D.C. This experience not only broadened her knowledge but also strengthened her leadership skills.
Beyond academics, Ashley found a sense of community in the C.A.R.E.S. (Crime Awareness & Reduction through Education and Support) club, where she connected with like-minded peers who shared her passion for law enforcement and criminal justice.
The transition from diploma to degree was seamless, allowing her to refine her research skills, work with specialized analytical software, and take on new challenges. Now, she’s working toward a meaningful career in law enforcement, one where she hopes to inspire future generations, especially her daughter.
Her advice to students considering a degree? "Success comes to those willing to invest their time, energy, and dedication. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, stay focused, and put in the hard work."
Ashley’s story is proof that persistence and lifelong learning opens doors. Read her full Success Beyond story here.
