How to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Screening | Seneca Nanji Foundation School of Nursing | Seneca Students

Students need to obtain a Police Clearance Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) for entry into clinical practice. You must apply though your local police region. Application instructions can be found online via your local police region’s website. Please use the links below to visit the Police Record Checks information webpage provided by your regional police.

• Durham Police Record Checks — For the student rate, Durham requires a volunteer letter from Seneca. This letter is not available electronically. King students must visit the Clinical Practicum Office, Room GH1110, and bring their Seneca  to request the letter. Yorkgate students can request the letter be mailed to their home address by emailing their request to Noreen Champagne from their MySeneca email address.
• Halton Police Record Checks
• Hamilton Police Background Checks  
• London Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Niagara Vulnerable Sector Check
• OPP Criminal Record Checks and Police Checks — The OPP require a volunteer letter from Seneca. This letter is not available electronically. King students must visit the Clinical Practicum Office, Room GH1110, and bring their Seneca  to request the letter. Yorkgate students can request the letter be mailed to their home address by emailing their request to Noreen Champagne from their MySeneca email address.
• Peel Police Vulnerable Sector Check 
• Toronto Police Service — The TPS use a specific form that students must complete. This form is not available electronically. King students must pick up the form from the Clinical Practicum Office, in Room GH1110, and bring their Seneca . Yorkgate students can get the form at Yorkgate Campus during their Clinical Information Session which will be held in semester one. After this session, Yorkgate students can request the form be mailed to their home address by emailing their request to Noreen Champagne from their MySeneca email address.
