Evacuation Assistance for Students with Disabilities

Seneca Polytechnic is committed to ensuring the safety of all students during emergencies, including those who may need evacuation support due to a disability or temporary condition.

Who can request evacuation assistance?

• Students with a permanent or temporary disability

• Students with mobility, sensory, or medical conditions

• Students not registered with ALS who still require assistance

How to Request a Plan:

You can contact either:

• Accessible Learning Services 

• Security Services 

We will assess your needs and help develop an Individualized Emergency Response Plan, which may include:

• Notification methods

• Evacuation routes

• Designated Areas of Refuge

• Emergency assistants (if needed)

What to Expect:

1. Initial Meeting – You’ll discuss your needs with ALS or Security.

2. Assessment – Security will conduct a needs assessment based on your classes and campus layout.

3. Plan Development – A custom plan will be created and shared with necessary personnel (faculty, security, emergency assistants).

4. Training – You and any assistants will be familiarized with the plan and evacuation routes.

5. Ongoing Support – Your plan can be updated at any time based on changes to your condition or schedule.
