Do I need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) if I am applying to extend my Study Permit?
If you are changing institution or your level of studies, you may need a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) to submit along with your study permit extension. Send an email to theservicehub@senecapolytechnic.ca to request for a PAL if you require one.
Note: All Seneca program credentials (Certificates, Diploma, Bachelor's Degree and Graduate Certificates) are of the same level of studies.
If you are currently in Canada and have remained in the same institution and level of study as your current study permit, you are exempted from submitting a PAL with your study permit extension.
You will need to choose the option indicating that you meet an exception from submitting a provincial or territorial attestation letter when asked in the questionnaire. Your final document checklist will have a section requiring you to upload the Proof of Provincial or Territorial Attestation Letter (PAL or TAL) Exception.
You will need to write and include an explanation letter to explain how you meet an exception and upload the explanation letter to the section requiring you to provide proof of the PAL exception.
Connect with one of our immigration specialists if you need guidance on how to draft the explanation letter or if you are unsure whether you require a PAL for your study permit extension.
