A co-op work permit is a type of work permit which allows you to complete the mandatory or optional work experience (work placement/internship/practicum/field placement) which your study program requires.
At Seneca, some programs require mandatory or optional work experience as part of their academic curriculum. If co-op work is integrated into the study programs, you must complete the part in order to meet all of the graduation criteria. You need a co-op work permit to fulfil this part.

Why do you need a co-op work permit?
You must hold a valid co-op work permit to fulfil your co-op work placement. A co-op work permit is for co-op-related work only. When the co-op work is finished, the validity of the co-op work permit will expire.
Seneca College will appear as your employer on your co-op work permit. This allows you to work for different co-op-related employers approved by the College.

Note: You may apply for your co-op work permit at the same time you apply for your study permit if you are applying from abroad for your initial study permit using your Letter of Acceptance.
