TO: All students and employees FROM: President David Agnew RE: The Next – Seneca’s new Strategic Plan
I am delighted to unveil Seneca’s new Strategic Plan, a road map that highlights our commitment to providing a great polytechnic education to prepare our students for great careers.
Our plan, The Next, ushers in a new branding: Seneca Polytechnic – a name that best describes our amazing community of students, employees, employers and partners.
To be clear, Seneca isn’t becoming a polytechnic. We already are. In fact, we were a co-founder of Polytechnics Canada more than 20 years ago. We were the first college to offer a degree in Ontario and we are now the first to co-deliver a master’s degree with our partner Niagara University, which is delivering its programs on a Seneca campus.
By combining the best of college and university approaches to learning – the polytechnic model of academic rigour and practical, applied learning – we offer our students a seamless transition from education to employment.
This has never been more important and relevant. Higher education must keep pace with the speed of industry. New careers are being invented every day.
That’s why we embrace innovation.
That’s why we challenge the status quo.
That’s why we lead.
What does this mean for our students?
We are doubling down on our commitment to a high-quality polytechnic education combined with exposure to your career before you graduate. We are investing in more resources to support your successful journey through Seneca Polytechnic into the workplaces of today and tomorrow.
For our employees, this means opportunity and growth.
We want you to keep innovating, creating, pushing the boundaries. And we remain committed to a healthy and flexible work environment to foster your success.
Thank you to all those who answered our call to participate in building The Next. We are reaffirming our commitment to the equitable, sustainable and more virtual Seneca, and your ambitions for Seneca Polytechnic are reflected in the plan.
I am excited for what the future holds for Seneca Polytechnic.
I hope you are too.
