Seneca Security Guards have recently taken up cycling on campus. Taking a more community-centric approach, the bike patrol has been well received by students who enjoy the added visibility and approachability of a bike guard. At the same time, guards enjoy the opportunity to interact with students, faculty, staff and visitors in a positive way.

Bike patrol enables Security to quickly and efficiently respond to campus areas that are inaccessible to patrol vehicles or too large for traditional foot patrols.

Security will be conducting bike patrols at Newnham and King campus both on and off roadways. Their bikes are equipped with first aid supplies and repair equipment to help the College community be safe on campus.

Now that the warmer weather is here and you may be cycling to and from campus and throughout your community, Security Services is reminding all cyclists to

  • Wear a helmet
  • Maintain visibility at all times
  • Use hand signals and exercise caution when making turns at intersections
  • Avoid riding at night
