Through the generous support of the Alumni Affinity Fund, Seneca Polytechnic welcomed more than 110 law enforcement and intelligence professionals to King Campus for a symposium on Future Crime Analysis: Technologies for Community Safety on April 28, 2023.

Industry partners Flashpoint, Cap Index and Futureshield presented on the latest technologies and techniques for crime prevention and investigations. Graduating students from the Crime and Intelligence Analysis (CIA) degree welcomed guests and presented their capstone degree research posters to  visiting professionals.

The event was opened by Mark Breen, Director, Monitoring & Intelligence, Emergency Management Ontario, who discussed the critical importance of implementing truth and reconciliation with First Nations and Indigenous peoples as an integral part of community safety and public policy in Ontario and across Canada. Keynote speaker and published author, Andrew Kirsch provided an informative and exciting presentation on his career in national security and intelligence-led investigations, based on his bestselling book, I Was Never Here: My True Canadian Spy Story of Coffees, Code Names, and Covert Operations in the Age of Terrorism.

Thank you to the industry partners, faculty, staff, students and Seneca alumni involved in organizing and delivering the symposium.

Seneca offers the innovative Honours Bachelor in Crime and Intelligence Analysis, the only degree of its kind in Ontario. Advanced entry is available for graduates of Police Foundations and for students with relevant academic credits or prior professional experience.
