New provincial legislation affecting postsecondary education is coming into effect on July 1, 2023.

The Strengthening Postsecondary Institutions and Students Act, 2022 includes content specific to sexual misconduct by employees in relation to a student.

Topics include:

  • sanctions for an employee found to have engaged in sexual misconduct towards a student
  • restrictions on rehiring an employee terminated for sexual misconduct
  • rules for the use of non-disclosure agreements

Please familiarize yourself with Seneca’s Sexual Violence Policy, which has been updated to reflect these changes.

Support is always available for survivors of sexual violence. If you have any questions, please contact student.conduct@senecacollege.ca.
