As part of Seneca Polytechnic’s commitment to being equitable, sustainable and increasingly virtual, many courses use eTextbooks — high-quality digital resources that are more affordable than print textbooks and available when you enrol.

Important dates to remember

If your program or course uses eTextbooks, review the important dates below:

  • Friday, April 10 to Friday, May 15:  The "Textbooks and Materials" fee appears in your account in Student Home. This fee replaces the cost of purchasing physical textbooks for your course(s).

  • Sunday, April 26: If your program is eligible to opt out of the eTextbook program, you will receive an email from the Follett bookstore with instructions on how to opt out. Please note that not all programs are eligible to opt out. Students who are eligible will receive instructions by email; students who are not eligible will not receive an opt‑out email. You can also find instructions on the Follett website, found under “Opt-Out Portal URL Process.”

  •   Friday, May 15  : Deadline to opt out of the eTextbook program.

  • Monday, May 25: If you opted out, the eTextbook fee will be removed from your student account.

After opting out, you will receive a confirmation email from the Follett bookstore confirming your request.

Benefits of eTextbooks

The eTextbook program offers several benefits:

  • Equitable: digital course materials are less expensive than print textbooks and compatible with eReader support tools
  • Sustainable: no printing required, reducing your carbon footprint
  • Virtual: access course resources anytime, anywhere, on various digital platforms

In addition, millions of academic resources, including books, articles, videos and educational materials, are available 24/7 on the Seneca Libraries website.
