Full-Time Support Staff at polytechnics and colleges across the province are officially on strike as of 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11.

While Seneca will remain open during the strike and regularly scheduled classes will continue, we want to share some helpful tips for how to best reach our campuses. Please consider building in extra travel time.

Picket Lines

During the strike, you may encounter picket lines when visiting Seneca. This means there could be some delays entering and exiting our campuses.

Here are the expected times and locations of picket lines. Please cross any picket lines with caution and respect.

King Campus

  • Scheduled picketing times: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Location: Gravel sidewalk along roadway entrance to campus

Newnham Campus

  • Scheduled picketing times: 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Location: public sidewalks at Finch Ave. and Au Large Blvd. and at Don Mills Rd.  and Premier Davis Blvd.
  • We recommend entering the campus through Au Large, travelling directly from Seneca Hill Dr. in a northbound direction; this may allow drivers to avoid picketing delays that come from turning left or right onto Au Large

Peterborough Campus

  • No picketing to occur

Seneca@York Campus

  • Scheduled picketing times: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Location: public sidewalk adjacent to building

If you encounter any incidents while crossing picket lines at any of our campuses, please share details with Seneca’s Security Services (security@senecapolytechnic.ca)

Parking

There are no planned changes to parking at any Seneca campus during the strike. Full details about parking at Seneca can be found on MySeneca.

Public Transit

Public transit to Newnham and Seneca@York campuses will not be impacted by the Support Staff strike.

For King Campus, York Region Transit (YRT) will be re-routing during picketing hours (7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to avoid delays during the strike. During pickets, YRT will be doing pick-ups and drop-offs from a temporary location adjacent to our Lake Seneca Trail Parking area (Parking Area A) as shown on this map.

For safety, please avoid walking on Seneca Ct. to the main campus buildings from this temporary location. Instead, use the route shown above in red.

Shuttle Service

There are no planned changes to campus shuttle routes or schedules during the strike. Campus shuttle schedules can be found on MySeneca.
