It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cheryl Cameron, a professor in the School of Early Childhood Education.

Cheryl was an exceptional educator whose connection to Seneca — as both a student and a long‑serving faculty member — spanned more than two decades. She was deeply respected by students and colleagues for her unwavering dedication to education, her kindness, and her enduring optimism, even in the face of adversity.

Cheryl’s commitment to her work was evident in all she did. Her dedication created meaningful experiences of countless students, field mentors, and colleagues. Cheryl’s love of life, her generous spirit, and her commitment to excellence created a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire our community.

Seneca will be lowering its flags to half-mast from sunrise until sunset on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026 to honour Cheryl.

If you feel that you need any support during this time, please contact Counselling Services or contact Good2Talk online or by phone at 1.866.925.5454.

I learned so much from her — not just about school, but about real life. She truly cared that we understood what to do in real situations and how to become better professionals and better people. She was kind, patient, and always willing to guide us.

It’s hard to believe she is gone. She was not only an excellent teacher, but a genuinely good and caring person. I will truly miss her and always be grateful for everything she taught me.

May she rest in peace. 🤍
