The 2026 Green Citizen Symposium, held March 17-19 and sponsored by TD Insurance, brought Seneca students, employees, industry leaders and community members together for three days of learning, inspiration and collaboration.

Guided by the theme “Bridges to Resilience: Connecting People, Ideas and Solutions,” the event highlighted how innovation and partnership can drive meaningful progress towards a more sustainable future.

Event highlights

  • The three-day symposium, which comprised of eight online sessions and an in-person component, drew more than 1,200 attendees in total
  • Nearly half of the attendees who were surveyed reported a significant improvement in their knowledge, compared to prior to attending their respective sessions
  • Of the eight online sessions, the panel “Wildfire Futures: Environmental Impact & Resilience Strategies” drew the largest audience, with 22 per cent of all attendees
  • 50 attendees gained insights on the future of green careers in Canada and built meaningful connections when they gathered on March 19 for the in-person panel and networking event at the Newnham Residence

Your ideas matter

In addition to showing strong enthusiasm for the various speakers, topics and sessions, you also shared your thoughts for future programming. According to the post-event survey:

  • You want to learn more about topics like AI and its impact on sustainability, circular economy and waste reduction
  • 55 per cent of you indicated that you would like more networking opportunities to connect with peers and industry professionals
