It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kofi “Naasei” Paul Akomeah-Kankam, a student in our Biotechnology (BTAC) program.

Naasei will be remembered by classmates, faculty, friends and family as a bright, kind and caring presence in the lives of those around him. He had a natural ability to make people feel seen and valued, offering warmth, laughter and quiet support to those who knew him and to his community. Naasei was someone whose life was defined by love, faith and the meaningful connections he built with others.

A public vigil will be taking place this week for those looking to pay their respects. The date is Thursday, May 14 at 8 p.m. and the location is the football field at Cardinal Ambrozic Secondary School in Brampton.

In addition, a funeral will be held Saturday, May 16 with a viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lotus Funeral Home at 121 City View Drive in Etobicoke.

Seneca will be lowering its flags to half-mast from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, May 12 to honour Naasei. We send condolences to the Akomeah-Kankam family and to those who knew Naasei.
