Awards, scholarships and bursaries

Seneca offers hundreds of awards, scholarships and bursaries from $500 to $5000 based on academic achievement, financial need and other criteria that are more specific.

To be eligible for any award, you must be a Seneca student and meet the eligibility requirements. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, while bursaries are awarded based on financial need. Some awards are open to all students, while some are offered only to students in specific programs or with specific backgrounds.

We encourage all students to apply! Due to diverse focus areas of the different awards, many students are eligible to receive an award and are not even aware that they qualify.

Award periods

  • Entrance awards: Entrance awards are available in the summer before the fall term begins. We recommend you apply early so you have the most up-to-date financial information when you confirm your program of study. Learn more here.
  • Fall term awards: Many awards are available for students enrolled in a Seneca program, between the first day of classes and Oct. 31 each year. Learn more here.
  • Student Leadership Awards: Student Leadership Awards are available at the end of the fall term and are based on demonstrating leadership since beginning at Seneca. Learn more here.

      • If you get a message saying you are not eligible for any awards, it may be because you have already applied. Check under “View My Student Awards” on the “Financial Aid” tile to see awards you have already applied for.
      • If a question does not apply to you, type N/A or deselect the award.
      • There is a character limit (not word limit) on the questions. You may choose to draft your responses in a separate document and paste them into Student Home.
      • Some awards require additional documents. You will see this next to the award along with an “Add” button. To see which documents are required, click on the name of the award. Only upload accepted file types.
