In response to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, on April 6, 2022, the provincial government announced the creation of a $1.9 million Ontario-Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship to support students attending Ontario’s publicly assisted colleges and universities. The purpose of these funds is to provide support to students directly or indirectly impacted by the Ukrainian conflict or students impacted by other conflicts.

Awarded to graduating students in the Liberal Arts University Transfer program or the Arts and Science - University Transfer program who are pursuing undergraduate studies with Seneca’s university partners and demonstrate financial need. In addition, the recipient will have outstanding academic performance, demonstrated compassion and integrity, proven collegiality and sincerity, academic curiosity and intellectual passion. Selection will be made on faculty members’recommendation. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who volunteer in the college or in the community, verified by a letter of reference.

Awarded to a full-time English Language Institute (ELI) student in good academic standing who shows leadership, embraces diversity and demonstrates active engagement on campus and in the wider community. The recipient is an international student that has completed level 8 and is now in a full-time program at Seneca. The recipient will be recommended by an ELI Committee and faculty. This award is established in memory of Ji Hun Kim, a Korean ELI student who was a model student and actively engaged in her studies and the community beyond the classroom. She is remembered as a force of positivity and intellectual curiosity.

Established in memory of Matt Felton who pursued his passion in web development and truly loved his job. He is remembered for his patience, calm nature, positivity and his wonderful sense of humour.

This award honours a student who leaves a lasting impact on the Seneca Sting community through exceptional leadership and meaningful contributions to athletics and recreation. The recipient demonstrates excellence in athletic performance or in their role within the department, while also showing a strong commitment to progressing in their academic program. This award was established by Gillian McCullough—former national team athlete and dedicated Seneca employee—whose example inspires staff and students to create positive change and leave a lasting legacy.

The recipients demonstrate high academic achievement (min GPA of 3.5), involvement with community or extra-curricular activities, and financial need. Preference will be given to previous award recipients provided they continue to meet the award criteria. The recipients will be recommended by faculty.
