On Saturday, October 17, a destructive, fast-moving fire swept through the Canadian Forces (CFB) Base in Wainwright, Alberta, taking the lives of several service members and seriously injuring dozens more.

CFB Wainwright is a place where members of the Canadian Armed Forces develop the skills and knowledge needed to serve and protect our country. When this tragedy struck, service members were in the middle of a routine training exercise.

We mourn alongside the victims' families, friends and colleagues, and all those affected by this devastating tragedy.

To honour those who lost their lives and recognize the profound impact of this loss, flags at all Seneca campuses will be flown at half-mast.
