RE: What to expect at Seneca for the rest of the fall term and this winter

As we make progress against the pandemic, Seneca’s safe and gradual reopening is continuing. Further changes will be made this fall, and more learning options will be available to students in the winter term.

For now, services will continue to be offered virtually and employees will continue to work remotely other than those required to be on campus. More in-person activities will be offered in the winter.

Starting week of Nov. 1

We are opening more spaces starting this week. Here’s what you can expect if you’re coming on campus. For more information on each of these, please visit this resource page.

  • The fitness centres and gyms will be open at King and Newnham campuses for all students and for those employees working on campus. Exercise facilities at Seneca@York will open in January because the gym is being used as a classroom for the fall term.
  • Multi-faith prayer rooms on campus this fall term have been moved to larger spaces that permit physical distancing. Maximum capacity limits are posted on the doors.
  • Food services and the campus bookstore are open.
  • We also continue to open more spaces on campus and in residences for students to study, work in groups or take advantage of Seneca’s Wi-Fi.
  • Quiet spaces have been designated within libraries at all campuses to allow for concentrated studying or reading.

Remember, everyone coming on campus must be fully vaccinated and do a daily COVID-19 screening online. Rapid testing is no longer available on campus. Masks must be worn.

Winter 2022 Term

We will be offering more in-person classes starting in January and delivering more services that our students have been asking for:

  • Programs will be in four formats: online, in-person, hybrid and flexible. Complete information is available on the Winter 2022 Programs page, including a video that explains the various teaching and learning formats.
  • Locker rentals will also resume for students in January. You will receive more information on this in the coming weeks.
  • We are exploring reinstating some intercampus bus shuttle services in January and will send details once that is confirmed.

We are continuing our vaccination policy into the winter term for all individuals coming to campus and participating in work placements.

Your health and safety is our top priority. In this crucial phase of the pandemic that will not change. More updates will be coming as we continue to monitor campus safety and changes to public health guidance.

Visit our COVID-19 site for more information on how Seneca is responding to the pandemic, including an FAQ section on the vaccination policy.
