Seneca celebrated the addition of 185 new trees and 1,185 shrubs to the courtyard at Newnham Campus.
This new green space was made possible thanks to a grant of more than $73,000 from the City of Toronto.
Shelley Carroll, Councillor, Don Valley North, attended along with representatives from the city, the World Wildlife Fund and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. The event included remarks from President David Agnew and a campus tour. A plaque acknowledging this contribution was also unveiled.
Councillor Carroll noted her pride in the sustainability work Seneca has done at Newnham Campus and how nearby residents enjoy walking through the campus.
The City of Toronto’s funding has helped reduce Seneca’s carbon footprint, while creating a more sustainable and naturalized landscape at Newnham Campus for students, employees and the community to enjoy.
