Seneca spreads kindness on Blue Monday | MyNews | Seneca Students

Security & Emergency Management Services employees at Newnham Campus have been sending out good vibes to the Seneca community and beyond today by helping vehicles that were stuck in the snow on Finch Avenue.

More than 24 vehicles and Toronto Transit Commission buses became stuck in the snow outside of Newnham Campus. Employees didn’t think twice to lend a helping hand and began escorting those stuck in the elements inside the Centre for Innovation, Technology & Entrepreneurship (CITE) to keep warm, utilize the restrooms and have a place to stay until the snow plows were able to reach the area. Employees also helped push several vehicles stuck in snowbanks and drifts along Finch Avenue, including one driven by Ontario's new Long-Term Care Minister Paul Calandra. In addition, they shoveled a path from Finch Avenue to CITE, allowing individuals to access the campus safely. 

“The security team went above and beyond this morning to truly embrace Seneca’s value of community,” said Michelle Dakin, Director, Security & Emergency Management Services. “I am thankful for their leadership in ensuring the safety of not only students and employees on campus but for those who need it the most.”

We are #SenecaProud of these employees for spreading kindness on what is considered to be the gloomiest day of the year, Blue Monday. 

All individuals were required to complete Seneca’s COVID-19 screening assessment, wear a mask and maintain social distancing while they waited at CITE.
