The Honourable Steven Blaney spoke to students in the School of Public Safety’s counter-terrorism class on Wednesday, July 20.
During his virtual lecture, he discussed his experience being inside Parliament when a terrorist attacked the building in 2014, his role as minister in crafting Bill C-51 in response to that and other security incidents, as well as lessons he learned through that process.
Mr. Blaney was an MP from 2006 to 2021, minister of veterans’ affairs from 2011 to 2013 and minister of public safety from 2013 to 2015.
