Time: 2 to 4 p.m.

Location: King Campus: Path to Reconciliation trail head. Accessible option if you can't walk to the Path: Garriock Hall Library

Description: Seneca will honour the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, also Orange Shirt Day, with the opening of our Path to Reconciliation along Lake Seneca. The Path is a tool to help teach both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people what was lost at residential schools.

Agenda:
2 p.m.: Arrive at the Path to Reconciliation trail head for remarks and ceremonial drumming. Accessible option: Arrive at Garriock Hall Library to watch a livestream of the opening remarks and drumming.

2:30 p.m.: Water Walk ceremony and guided walk of the Path to Reconciliation OR self-guided walk. Accessible option: Activities at Garriock Hall Library, including a painted river rock workshop and a berry and water ceremony.

Good to know:

Orange shirts will be sold by the Campus Store at Newnham Campus and at pop-ups at King and Seneca@York campuses. Many people choose to honour this day by wearing orange.
The walk will take place rain or shine, unless conditions are unsafe.
Please note there is no running water on the path so be sure to bring extra water.
To protect yourself, wear long sleeves, pants, light-coloured clothing and hiking boots in case of muddy areas. Weather dependent: bring insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat and/or a raincoat/umbrella.
