Black History Month Kickoff With Michel Chikwanine

Guest Speaker
2/1/2022 1:00 PM 2:00 PM (Eastern Standard Time)

President David Agnew will launch Seneca’s month-long celebration of Black history and the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians during the Black History Month Kickoff With Michel Chikwanine.

During the event, Glenna Thomas, Student Life Co-ordinator, Student Services, will chat with Mr. Chikwanine, former child soldier about his experiences.

Mr. Chikwanine has overcome unimaginable pain and struggle. He was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and grew up amid the terror of the Great War of Africa. Much of his childhood was ravaged by the death and decay of a war that claimed the lives of 5.8 million people, including his father, and forced him to be a child soldier.
