Transitional Programming at Seneca

Seneca Polytechnic offers a variety of transitional programming designed to support students as they move into post secondary education. These programs aim to ensure a smooth and successful transition by providing essential resources and information. Through a series of informational workshops, introductions to campus support services, and guidance on assistive technologies, students are better prepared to navigate their new academic environment.

Access, Learn, Succeed (A.L.S.):

  • Access, Learn, Succeed (A.L.S.) is an informative and interactive session hosted by Accessible Learning Services (ALS). Meet our expert team of Counsellors, Assistive Technologists, and Learning Strategists who are here to support your academic success.

Ready, Set, Success (R.S.S):

  • Ready…Set…Success! (R.S.S.) is a transition program for new students with disabilities.  RSS is a series of interactive group sessions designed to help students with disabilities or accessibility needs develop and refine successful learning skills and habits.  RSS takes place just before the start of the Fall term each academic year.  Participants have the option to attend either in person at the Newnham campus or online via Microsoft Teams. 

Equipping Yourself for Educational Success At Seneca (E.Y.E.S.)

  • Equipping Yourself for Educational Success At Seneca (E.Y.E.S.) is an online resource is designed as a self-guided interactive transition program that helps you to be more prepared, informed, and confident as you begin your studies at Seneca Polytechnic. It is designed with all students in mind.

This Program runs Winter and Summer Semesters during Seneca Welcome Week.

In partnership with Student Life through their Orientation and Campus Tours, learn about the Accessible Learning Services department and how we support students. Experience a cutting-edge tools in a live technology demo and learn how they can enhance your learning experience. Eligible students with disability/accessibility needs can also register for ALS services during the session.

This Program runs in the Fall Semester during Seneca Welcome Week.

R.S.S. is a one day workshop designed for students who are planning to register with Accessible Learning Services. This workshop is offered in hyflex format. Students can attend in-person at Newnham campus or virtually from any location.

R.S.S. participants will learn about such things as:

  • The differences between high school and post secondary studies.
  • How to access accommodations.
  • Different assistive technologies and learning strategies.
  • OSAP, bursaries (BSWD) and other Financial Aid matters.
  • And so much more!

This online resource is designed as a transition program to help you be more
prepared, informed and confident as you begin your post secondary studies at Seneca Polytechnic. It is designed with all students in mind, no matter your background or who you are.

In this online resource, you will be introduced to multiple self-paced sections that cover topics like understanding your strengths and weaknesses, navigating post secondary expectations, best practices for communicating with faculty, available academic and personal supports, suggestions on managing finances, keeping your health in mind and more.

You can independently access E.Y.E.S. at Seneca at your convenience.
