Transfer Credits

Starting in May 2026? Click here for important information.

Transfer credits are granted for courses taken at another recognized postsecondary institution that are deemed equivalent to a course at Seneca, and which apply to your specific program of study.

If you have a college or university level course that’s similar to a course (and part of your program) at Seneca, you may be eligible to apply for transfer credit. Explore your eligibility using the Seneca Transfer Credits tool.

Seneca awards credentials at the certificate, diploma, degree, and graduate certificate levels. Credits from recognized postsecondary institutions can be transferred into Seneca's certificate or diploma programs if they were earned at the certificate, diploma, or degree level. Previous study at the degree level may be assessed for possible credit at the degree level. To request transfer credit for graduate certificate programs, previous study completed beyond a degree credential may be considered.

Students are responsible for submitting transfer credit applications by the published deadlines and for understanding how approved transfer credits may affect their course load. The granting of transfer credits, and any resulting enrolment changes, may impact a student’s enrolment status, including changes from a full-time to part-time course load. For international students, such changes may have implications in meeting eligibility for both Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and to work on or off campus, under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements. Students are responsible for considering these impacts and for seeking appropriate advice before applying.
