Abada-Laraya Award*

ACL Student Benefits, the student health, dental and extended health plan insurance broker, will annually present two awards to students who have shown outstanding leadership. The recipients of this award must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 while making significant contributions to the Seneca community or their community. This award recognizes a student who is the "unsung hero", someone who quietly works behind the scenes to make Seneca a better place while still maintaining their academics and juggling other responsibilities. Adebola Adefioye Scholarship*

Awarded to a full-time student in the Honours Bachelor of Child Development degree program or the Early Childhood Education diploma program. This bursary is open to:

  • Students who identify as Black
  • Students who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit
  • Students with a permanent disability (physical, intellectual, mental health or learning) who are receiving accommodations through Seneca Accessible Learning Services
  • Students who identify as a person with diverse gender identity and/or sexual orientation (2SLGBTQ+)

The selection will be made by the Seneca awards committee based on academic excellence with a minimum GPA of 3.0. This award celebrates Adebola Taiwo Adefioye, Seneca alumna, founder of the Afro Women and Youth Foundation, and winner of the 2021 Colleges Ontario Premier's Award in the Recent Graduates category.

David John Farmer C-FDJD Aviation Award

Awarded to a third-year domestic student in the full-time Honours Bachelor of Aviation Technology degree program. The recipient is selected based on demonstrated financial need and has overcome hardship in pursuit of their education. The recipient must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, show satisfactory flight line and pass FLY300 (Transport Canada Private Pilot Flight Test). Established by a retired finance executive who was unable to pursue a flying career as a young man simply due to lack of money and wishes to assist Seneca students today. He nevertheless obtained a PPL at age 23, an IFR, and ultimately bought and flew his own SR22 C-FDJD all over North America and Caribbean.
This award may be renewable in the fourth year if the recipient continues to demonstrate financial need, satisfactory flight line, and a minimum GPA of 2.5.
