Awarded to a full-time nursing student who has a minimum GPA of 2.5 and demonstrates financial need. Emphasis is on a student who has faced hardship in accessing postsecondary education. The recipient identifies as Black and/or identifies as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit. The recipient will be selected by the Seneca Awards committee and/or First Peoples@Seneca office.
Awarded to a full-time student in the Police Foundations program who has strong academics and community involvement experience. The recipient demonstrates financial need and will be recommended by faculty. This award commemorates Detective Constable Jason Ng, a police officer with York Regional Police who proudly served in patrol, community response, criminal investigations, search and rescue, and air support. In 2015, he lost a courageous battle to cancer and is dearly missed by his close friends and colleagues at YRP.
Awarded to a graduating student in the Fire Protection Engineering Technology program who is enrolled in the "Human Behaviour in Fire" course. The recipient will have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or above, exhibit a strong work ethic, good written communications, problem-solving skills and an overall commitment to excellence. The recommendation is made by Faculty members. This award was created by Derek Gruchy in honour of his parents Don and Nola. The criteria reflects the work ethic and dedication they displayed throughout their careers.
