International Students

As of April 1, 2026, full-time post-secondary international students no longer need a co-op work permit to complete required Field Placements in Canada. Students may use the on-campus work authorization printed on your valid study permit (“May accept employment on campus”) to complete the required field placement, including in locations outside of campus boundaries, provided you meet all the eligibility requirements. If you do not have the correct condition on your permit or you have any questions regarding this, please connect with our Immigration Specialist team through The Service Hub for support directly. International students will now be required to submit the study permit prior to being cleared for future placements on Synergy Gateway Verified for placement clearance status. 

Health Insurance - Morcare

As an international student enrolled in a full-time professional program at Seneca, you have mandatory health insurance (covered by Morcare) included as a charge in your tuition fees. You will be automatically included in the health insurance plan for the current academic year, depending on your program start date.

You are expected to pay any outstanding balance at the start of your term. You can find this information under the Financial Account section in Student Home. You will need to log in with your student username and password to access Student Home.

• Most international students have early arrival coverage, which means that if this is your first time being insured by Morcare/Seneca, your coverage begins 30 days prior to the first day of their enrollment period.
• However, your insurance or medical card will not be available until Morcare can verify their enrollment after Day 5 when your enrollment report is sent by Seneca to them to activate the your insurance.
• This means that students are responsible for paying upfront and submitting your claim once your insurance is officially activated.
• International Student Services is working with Seneca Medical Centre. They would send a list of students who made an appointment with them prior to their insurance activation. They will assist them in verifying their enrollment and payment, after which they would not charge the students but directly bill Morcare once their insurance is activated.
• Students may view Morecare's list of medical providers to set up a doctor or walk-in clinic appointment. TO AVOID UPFRONT COSTS CALL MORCARE: 416-216-5735 (Local) and 1-888-985-1552 (Toll Free) for assistance in setting up your appointment. You can also go to your family doctor, any walk-in clinic or hospital and present your Morcare student benefit card. Most places will accept the student benefit card, call Morecare to confirm. If your doctor, walk-in clinic or hospital will not accept the card you can pay them directly and submit a claim for reimbursement. Coverage for your visit is up to the benefit maximum in your coverage. Other fees or costs may apply to you. If you have questions about your coverage, contact Morcare for assistance.
