Support with Housing, Health Insurance and Settlement

At Seneca, we are here to support you make the transition to study and live in Canada. If you need assistance with housing, health insurance or settlement support, you can book an appointment with our team. You can also book or view the status of your appointment by logging in to The Service Hub, selecting My Services tab and My Appointments.

Drop-in support is also available at the Service Hub at Newnham Campus Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT.

 

Immigration Support and Advisement

One-on-One Immigration Advisement In-Person or Virtual

To connect with an immigration specialist or PR strategist in-person or virtually, you must book an appointment. You can also book or view the status of your appointment by logging in to The Service Hub, selecting My Services tab and My Appointments.

Appointments are encouraged but limited drop-ins are available on campus for emergency or time sensitive advisement and subject to the availability of our specialists. Please expect a wait time for drop-ins. In-person support is available between 9:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m. EDT on the following days:

  • King - Tuesday and Thursday
  • Newnham - Monday through Friday
  • Seneca@York - Tuesday through Friday

Virtual Group Questions and Answers (Q & A) Drop-ins

Students can join this virtual group session to ask general questions to immigration specialists. No individual consultations will take place during the drop-in. For individual consultations, you must book an appointment. 

  • Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. EDT 
  • Mondays and Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. EDT

Morcare Benefits Plan Office

Have questions about your plan or a recent claim? A Morcare representative is available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newnham Campus in The Service Hub in Building D for personalized drop-in support.

Morcare Virtual Session

Join this virtual session to learn more about Morcare, your health insurance provider.  It will cover details about your benefits and coverage and explain how to submit a claim.  Learn how to access mental health support as an international student. You also have access to crisis support in the language of your choice through WeConnect.

You will also have an opportunity to get your questions answered by a Morcare representative.

Social Insurance Clinic

To legally work in Canada, you need a nine-digit Social Insurance Number (SIN) issued by Service Canada.

At the beginning of each term, Seneca Polytechnic invites Service Canada to come to campus to issue a SIN on the spot.

International students must register for a specific time slot and bring their original and valid documents listed below to their appointment:

  1. A study permit issued by IRCC or CIC which indicates the permit holder “may accept employment" or “may work” in Canada.
  2. passport
