Student Account Description: Academic Technology

Fee: $125

This fee ensures that students are provided with the most recent and necessary technology tools to acquire digital literacy and learn soft and hard skills that prepare them to enter the workforce. It supports student study activities in technology-enabled, active-learning classrooms, and provides them with anytime, anywhere access to academic software, hybrid- and remote-learning capabilities, and much more. It also covers the implementation of tools and services that are beyond the basic information technology infrastructure required to operate academic services and computing and learning services.

The total fee is distributed as follows:

• Academic Technology Enhancements $48.18
  • Includes on-campus and at-home access to all academic software through software streaming, implementation of innovative new technology that supports hybrid- and remote-learning capabilities, advanced learning technologies in the Learning Centre, 24-7 access to select Computing Commons, access to loaner laptops to enable students to complete assignments and projects
• Digital Learning $32.50
  • Prepares Seneca students with the digital literacy required by employers today through funding of collaborative and innovative tools that provide students with enhanced opportunities to skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, research and knowledge acquisition
• Academic Software $34.11
  • Supports funding of specialized software subscription in various programs across Seneca to facilitate advanced learning 
  • Funds online digital resources, research material to enhance learning and research capabilities
  • Supports subscription to the cloud-based Learning Management System 
• Academic Services $10.21
  • Supports funding of proactive and innovative technology support for course delivery in classrooms as well as helping students with their technology issues on campus
