If you are starting your studies in 2024 as an international student, please review our checklists about preparing to study. Additional resources are also available on this page.
Anyone who is planning to study in Canada for longer than six months is required to have a study permit. After you have paid your tuition fees, you must apply for a Canadian study permit. If your program includes co-op/work placement, you should apply for a co-op work permit together with your study permit application. Refer to our Guide for support.
You are advised to plan ahead to apply for your study permit as the processing time varies for each country. Visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website to apply for your Study Permit.
Depending on your preferences, you can choose on and off-campus housing options.

As a new student at Seneca, you may be required to write the Skills Assessment, even if you have already written a pre-admissions test. The Skills Assessment is a tool to determine your academic placement in mathematics. We use the results of this assessment to prepare your timetable. Students accepted into a graduate certificate program do not need to complete this assessment. While there is no assessment fee, if you do not write the assessment on time, you may be charged a $30 late fee. Learn more about Skills Assessments and how to book and find practice assessments, workshop schedules and study guides.
Transfer Credits are granted for courses taken at another accredited postsecondary institution which are deemed as equivalent to a course at Seneca. If you have a college or university level course that’s similar to a Seneca course, you may be eligible to apply for Transfer Credit at Seneca. Eligibility information and steps for how to apply can be found on the Transfer Credit web page.
