It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Maris Karklins, an assistive technologist at Seneca. Maris worked out of our King Campus within our Accessible Learning Services department.
Maris was a true force of nature, passionately committed to education and wholeheartedly devoted to supporting his students. In addition to his role here at Seneca, Maris shared his love of learning by teaching at Conestoga College.
A lifelong learner himself, Maris continually explored ways to provide the best possible support to his students, striving to empower each person he worked with.
Maris will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Please join me in offering condolences to the Karklins family, and to those who knew Maris. The Karklins family invites you to share your memories and tributes in this book.
Seneca will be lowering its flags to half-mast from sunrise until sunset on Tuesday, Nov. 12 to honour Maris.
There also will be a community space available at King Campus in room GH2118 to hold space for grief, gathering and remembrance of Maris. This space will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Nov. 15. All are welcome.
If you feel that you need any support during this time, please contact the Counselling Services or contact Good2Talk online or by phone at 1.866.925.5454.
