Welcome to Information Technology Services (ITS) 

Below are resources to help you navigate technology and get you started

      1 | Getting Access 

The following are needed to access technology and services at Seneca Polytechnic.

• Seneca Account – Your Seneca credentials (username, password and Seneca student email) are sent to your personal email address. Please check your junk mail folder if you cannot find the email. Tutorials are available here.
• Microsoft Authenticator – Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a mandatory requirement for all students when signing in. Install the app on your mobile device and be ready to authenticate frequently with ease.
• Seneca Email – All formal communications and verifications will be through your Seneca student email address.
• Seneca OneCard – OneCard is the official Seneca identification card, it contains your Student Number, photo and funds. Please note, if all of your classes are online, you may not require a Virtual OneCard.

   2 | Student Portals

• MySeneca – Your central point of access to online portals and resources. 
• Student Home – Sign in to access your class schedule, student record, financial account, and more. Review the quick start guide.
• Learn@Seneca (Blackboard) – Sign in to find your course contents, links to join online classes, assignments and more. Information should appear by day 1 of class. Watch video tutorials.

    3 | Video Conferencing Tools

If your course is online, hybrid or flex, your professors will be using one of four online learning platforms to deliver classes and to connect with you. 

• BigBlueButton – This platform does not require download or installation.
• Microsoft Teams – Students are eligible for a Seneca Teams licensed account.
• Webex – Students do not require an account to join sessions.
• Zoom – Students are eligible for a Seneca Zoom licensed account, learn to configure and sign in correctly.
• Watch recordings of introductory sessions, including tips for technology at Seneca.

   4 | Software

• Microsoft 365 – Free access to all students, the online productivity and collaboration suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive (cloud storage of 1TB/1000GB) and more.
• Adobe Creative Cloud – Free access to full-time students, the suite includes popular software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, XD and more.
• Dell Discounts – Exclusive pricing on laptops and accessories.
• Read&Write Gold – Software that can read aloud web pages, Word documents and PDF files.
• Seneca Software Centre – Discounted pricing for software.
• Trend Micro – Free license for Internet Security anti-malware software.

    5 | Additional Resources

• IT Acceptable Use Policy – This policy outlines the underlying principles and rules that govern the use of Seneca Information Technology (IT) Resources.
• Computing Commons – An open area where computers are available for students, printing services are also available, try out our new ITS Printing Guide.
• Loaner Services – Borrowing services are available to actively-enrolled students.
• MyApps – An application streaming service that lets you install software on any Seneca PC on demand or personal computer.
• Seneca App Suite – Download on your mobile devices to stay connected on campus or on-the-go.
• Technical Requirements – Know what technical requirements are needed for success.
• Virtual Commons – Connect to a computer within Seneca's Computing Commons as if you were on campus.
• VPN – The Student Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be required to access some services.
