Alumni Student Leadership Award ($2,000)

Seneca Alumni has established an annual award for student government and club leaders. Applicants must have:

  • served two or more semesters as a volunteer leader
  • demonstrated outstanding leadership in enhancing the quality of student life at Seneca
  • partnered with Seneca Alumni on initiatives in the past year
  • maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0

Campus Living Centre Academic Award ($500)

Annually awarded to full-time students currently living at either the Newnham or King campus residences. The recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be able to demonstrate his or her contribution to student life at Seneca through direct involvement in at least two of the following areas:

  1. Social activities organized through recognized student bodies such as student governments, clubs and formalized residence groups.
  2. Sporting activities, such as intramurals, varsity athletics and residence-organized events.
  3. Academic and educational activities such as tutoring, organized study groups, educational campaigns and fundraising initiatives.

Larry DeFlorio Leadership Award ($1,000)

This award has been established in honour and memory of Larry DeFlorio, Seneca’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Ontario Premier’s Award nominee, former faculty member and Co-ordinator of the Animation Arts Centre (AAC), as a tribute to his vision, leadership and contribution to Seneca life, students and alumni.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • students enrolled in their final year (or semester) of studies, in any diploma or certificate programs of the Animation Arts Centre within the School of Creative Arts and Animation – ANI, DAN, GAA and VFT
  • a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • demonstrated leadership, compassion, personal integrity and generosity
  • academic curiosity and intellectual passion
  • contribution to others and to the community
  • involvement in student life (e.g. peer tutoring, organized study groups, educational and fundraising initiatives, sports, student government, etc.)
  • demonstrated ability to balance personal responsibilities and school involvement, and overcoming adversity

Laura Flanagan Memorial Award, (CNS, CTY, CTYC programs) ($1,500)

Established by the Computer Studies Student Council as a tribute to Laura Flanagan, Chair, School of Computer Studies, dedicated teacher and friend to all that knew her at Seneca, this award is open to any student currently enrolled in a full time, daytime program in the CNS, CTY or CTYC programs with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Applicants must demonstrate a unique or outstanding contribution towards Seneca life, student life or community work in a volunteer capacity. References for this award should be provided by a staff or faculty member who is related to the CNS, CTY or CTYC programs at Seneca.

Laura Flanagan Memorial Award, (CPA, CPD, CPAC programs) ($1,500)

Established by the Computer Studies Student Council as a tribute to Laura Flanagan, Chair, School of Computer Studies, dedicated teacher and friend to all that knew her at Seneca, this award is open to any student currently enrolled in a full time, daytime program in the CPA, CPD or CPAC programs with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Applicants must demonstrate a unique or outstanding contribution towards Seneca life, student life or community work in a volunteer capacity. References for this award should be provided by a staff or faculty member who is related to the CPA, CPD or CPAC programs of Seneca.

Marcia Donaldson Student Ambassador Award ($1,000)

The Marcia Donaldson Student Ambassador Award was created to recognize outstanding student ambassadors at Seneca. This award is named after Student Services Co-ordinator, Marcia Donaldson, to recognize her years of exceptional service and dedication to students. This award is available to students who are currently involved as a Student Ambassador and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, teamwork and energy in this role, while maintaining good academic standing (minimum GPA of 2.5).

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • has worked one or more semesters (including the current semester) as a Student Ambassador
  • is an outstanding team player
  • has contributed, supported, and promoted the Student Services department and its objectives
  • has represented the Student Services department with honour, integrity, and professionalism to the Seneca community
  • has demonstrated initiative and leadership above and beyond their regular duties that has enhanced the value of the Student Ambassador Program

Margie Bader Mentoring Leadership Award ($1,000)

This award is presented annually to a SMILE mentor. Applicants must have:

  • served as a SMILE mentor for two or more semesters (including the current semester)
  • demonstrated leadership and contribution toward the enhancement of student life at Seneca
  • community involvement or volunteer work outside of Seneca
  • a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
