Join Seneca’s Research Ethics Board

Seneca’s Research Ethics Board (REB) invites applications for the following member position:

  • one student position (volunteer) from September 12, 2024 to June 20, 2025, renewable for a second term

Responsibilities

A REB member is expected to attend monthly REB meetings and vote on the panel for decisions made by the board. Seneca's REB meets monthly throughout the fall and winter terms via MS Teams, with meetings currently scheduled for the second Thursday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

As a student member, you may be paired up with a REB member to review an average of one to two minimal risk applications per month, as well as any applications deemed to be above minimal risk as a collective group during the monthly REB meeting. Applications requiring Full Board review will be sent to members 10 days prior to the meeting date.

Qualifications for Student Member

Given the large role students play, both as trainee investigators and as research participants, the REB seeks a student perspective to provide a different viewpoint during the ethical review process. An ideal student will be in good academic standing and entering their third or fourth year at Seneca.

Application and Deadline

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  • curriculum vitae
  • cover letter quoting the membership category and outlining relevant background, experience and expertise
  • certificate of completion for the online tutorial TCPS 2: CORE (Course on Research Ethics)

Please submit all materials by Friday, July 26, 2024 to reb@senecapolytechnic.ca
