School of Environmental & Civil Engineering Technology

The School of Environmental & Civil Engineering Technology Land Acknowledgement

The School of Environmental and Civil Engineering Technology acknowledges the land on which we teach and learn is the Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Williams Treaties First Nations, and since time immemorial has been home to many other Nations, including the Anishinabek, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Ojibwe, and Métis people. We recognize as treaty partners that we have an obligation to understand the history of this land and that the treaties are intended to be an agreement based on mutual respect and co- operation.

We are committed to deepening our understanding of the history and knowledge of local Indigenous communities and incorporating this awareness into our teaching and learning in the School of Environmental and Civil Engineering Technology. We are mindful that our profession has a direct impact on the environment and the communities that rely on the land. We are committed to broadening our understanding of environmental stewardship, teaching, and learning, by incorporating Indigenous perspectives so we can move forward together in a good way.
